Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is a big, busy, happening airport. Stepping off the plane and out of the airport onto US soil for the first time can often be a daunting experience for some. Getting to Anaheim however is easy.
Firstly you have to be patient as, like much of the rest of America, everything in California is big and it takes time to travel the relatively long distances between places.
Public transport, although it exists, is minimal throughout southern California and the sheer distances that often have to be covered often make taxis an expensive option.
The best, easiest and cheapest way to get from LAX to Anaheim (The stating point for many Contiki Tours) is to take the blue and yellow Super Shuttle buses from the street when you exit the airport – Look for the ‘shared ride vans’ signs.
Super Shuttles from the airport do not need to be booked in advanced as a Super Shuttle representative on the spot can do this for you.
The Buses come roughly every 15 minutes, cost around $15-20 US for the trip (you pay the driver upon completing your journey) and will drop you at the door of where you want to go.
There is also a discount voucher in your Contiki Travellers Guide Booklet that you can use for Super Shuttles making it even more inexpensive while you should also tip your driver $1 or $2 if you feel you received good service.
The Super Shuttles are shared vans so you may share with a few other people staying in the Anaheim Resort area and drop them off at their hotels first before arriving at your hotel.
Likewise, if you are flying out of LAX the Super Shuttles also do a pick up service and it is best to call and book these a day or two in advance.
