Madison, Wisconsin, is a university town and capital of the state. Even after it was named the state capital in 1836, almost no one lived in the town it didn’t boom into city status until the University of Wisconsin opened its doors in 1848 and today it is a thriving center not only for education and administration but also for business and recreations.
The University is still the heart and soul of the city and the lively State Street is the epicenter of the city. People however come from all over the world not only to work and study at the 1,000 acre campus and home of the Big 10’s University of Wisconsin Badgers, but also to visit the university’s art center, geology museum, planetarium, observatory and arboretum.
Madison is a once night stop in Contiki tours travelling between Chicago and Sioux Falls.

How random…Im doing contiki but going to stay at University of Wisconsin with my American friend who is a senior there….this is funny to me. She said I will love it.

I couldn’t believe I randomly came across this article! This city is practically in my own backyard. Madison is a wonderful mid-sized city with possibly the most beautiful capitol building in the United States.
State street is definitely the place to go for an entertaining evening and meal. If you’re fortunate enough to visit on a sporting event day be sure not to miss a college football or basketball match. The indie rock and misc concert scene is also sensational.

State Street is where the party happens. The University of Wisconsin student body is one of the most nightlife crazy in the nation, and a walk down State Street while school is in session (or better yet, during football season) will surely propagate that reputation.

A hike to the top of Yosemite Falls is among the best the park has to offer.
This has to be the most amazing optional excursion that I've done....The whole time you are thinking "I can't believe I'm doing this. It's awesome!" Don't miss this!
For ladies I would definitely recommend finding some slightly nicer than normal black flats... I bought some in Prague for super cheap and still wear them all the time!
