Mobile Cook - Europe

A Mobile Cook makes up the third member of the Contiki Road Crew team (along with the Tour Manager and Driver) on our camping tours. The Mobile Cook is solely responsible for the planning, preparation and cooking of quality, healthy meals (breakfast and dinner) each day for groups of up to 46 people using produce bought locally. You’ll need to be a team player, highly organized and have excellent client service skills.

In order to be considered for a position with us, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:
  • Possess a current UK or European Passport
  • Applications will be considered if valid UK work permit held (minimum 1 year remaining)
  • Be available for an interview our London offices during January 2009
  • Have excellent people skills with proven experience in a customer service role
  • Ability to interact on professional and social levels with our clients
  • Have the ability to deal with and work under pressure
  • Able to adapt to long working hours (split shifts)
  • Must be team orientated
  • Be adaptable and flexible
  • Possess First Aid qualifications
  • Be enthusiastic and have loads of energy!

What happens next?

Once we have received your application we will contact you via email so please make sure that you check your email account regularly.

If we think that you may be suitable for a position, we will invite you to an interview. Our interview process is divided into two parts; a Group interview followed by an Individual interview.

The Group Interview will be made up of a number of your fellow applicants. For this interview you will all be asked to prepare a specific subject that will help us to assess your personality, communication skills and your research abilities.

Notes and electronic equipment may not be used during your presentation.

The strength of your presentation combined with your participation during the group interview will determine whether you are offered an individual interview. The group interview is not a competition; we do not have a quota of positions to fill from each group interview, individual interviews will be offered to all promising applicants. Individual interviews will general be held the afternoon of or day following your group interview.

Please note: not all applicants who attend a group interview will be offered an individual interview.

Following a successful individual interview you will be offered a position on our Site Representative Training Trip and the Mobile Cook Training for 2009.

Mobile Cook Training Trip

If you have been successful in gaining a placement on our training trip, it is essential that you are available to start at the end of February and will go for approximately 2 weeks. We will be starting the training trip with a Seminar Day in London Seminar Day and we will then proceed to our Chateau near Lyon in France for the duration of the training trip Accommodation will be provided for the duration of the training trip which runs for approximately two weeks.

Our training trips are renowned for being intense and very challenging so the more advance preparation you undertake the better off you will be. The training program will be discussed in more detail during the group interview.

A definite offer of contract work will not be made until you have successfully completed the full training program
