My Recent Comments

  1. Visiting the Old Vienna Schnaps Museum in Vienna would have to be my best drinking experience by far! Loved it so much I brought two bottles home with me.

  2. My tour missed out on this cos we were too far out of town :(

  3. I brought along a money belt with me but in the 3 months I was travelling, only used it twice. I think it’s a matter of personal choice to use one. I felt safe enough not to because I padlocked my backpack to keep it secure.

  4. I’d like to point out this article isn’t entirely correct. In Sweden if you want to purchase alcohol from their liquor stores, you must be 20 years of age, as I found out first-hand.

  5. I had the pleasure of seeing the wonderful scenery of Andalsnes on my Scandi & Russia tour in June this year.. what a shame to hear that Contiki will no longer be visiting it – future travellers are missing out on something special and amazing.

  6. I went on two Concept/Budget tours alone this year: Scandinavia & Russia from 23 June to 24 July and European Contrasts from 2-30 Aug. I actually had no choice but to go it alone, because all my close friends were busy with University/College, but it didn’t stop me from getting out there & meeting new people – something I’ve never quite done before. I went with an open mind expecting to have great experiences, which I did, and the memories will stay with me forever. Plus, I made life-long friends along the way! That’s the nature of Contiki.

  7. Yes, we all know the best way to avoid getting coming down with an illness is to “eat and rest well while on tour, avoid drinking too much alcohol and take some simple Health precautions” as mattyvcontiki says. But there’s one important thing to remember – most of the fun happens on Contiki when partying i.e. drinking and staying up late for most of the nights out. So it’s basically unavoidable that you will come down with something.. I myself went on two Contiki tours, both 1 month long. Needless to say I ended up catching the common cold on the first one, and on the second I came down with the ‘Contiki cough’ that lasted for the last 3 weeks of tour! And I wasn’t the only one – by the end most people had been sick to some degree.

  8. OMG that is a gor-geous picture! Looks exactly like one I took while there. Wasn’t it just the most stunning place ever!

  9. A tip for people looking for a decent coffee shop.. if you don’t already know about it, you will because most Contiki travellers find out about it – its The Grasshopper. Ask a local and they should be able to tell you where to find it.
